Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary, keynoted the

"Hong Kong China-funded Enterprises Lecture Hall."

On July 12, the Chinese Enterprises Association (CEA) held the 20th session of the "Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Forum," featuring a keynote address by The Honorable Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, as the guest speaker. Xu Weigang, Director of the Economic Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, and Zhou Qiang, Deputy Director and Head of the Trade Office, attended upon invitation.

Miao Jianmin, Chairman of CEA and Chairman of China Merchants Group; Honorary Chairmen: Wang Xiangming, Chairman of China Resources (Holdings); Sun Yu, Chief Executive of Bank of China (Hong Kong); Wang Haimin, Chairman of Hong Kong China Travel Service Group; CEA Vice Chairmen: Lan Yi, Deputy General Manager of China Resources (Holdings); Li Xiguang, President of China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch; Liu Yuejin, Chief Executive of China Life (Overseas); Qian Weizhong, Chairman of COSCO Shipping (Hong Kong); and Yan Feng, Chairman of the Board of Guotai Junan International — together with some of the association's advisors, executive directors and council members, as well as around 240 senior leaders (middle management and above) from Chinese-funded enterprises, attended the event. Yu Xiao, Vice Chairman and President of CEA, hosted the forum.


In his opening remarks, Chairman Miao Jianmin introduced:

the work undertaken by CEA and Chinese-funded enterprises around boosting the economy, pursuing development, and benefiting people's livelihoods. He emphasized that, at this new stage in which Hong Kong is moving from stability to prosperity, Chinese-funded enterprises must grasp the current economic situation, leverage their own strengths, accurately read, scientifically respond to, and proactively drive change — and while pursuing their own development, better serve Hong Kong's economic and social advancement.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan delivered a special address titled "The Current Economic Landscape and Hong Kong's Measures to Boost the Economy and Promote Development."

Beginning with the asset markets, he analyzed the challenges and opportunities currently facing Hong Kong, and outlined the HKSAR Government's medium- to long-term economic development strategy — centered on consolidating existing strengths, developing new quality productive forces, advancing high-quality development, and enhancing economic resilience.

Honorary Chairman Sun Yu hosted the Q&A session. Representatives of the participating Chinese-funded enterprises exchanged views on a range of topics, including how to seize policy opportunities and promote consumption transformation; making good use of the stock market's "share buyback and treasury share" policy; financial institutions expanding into emerging markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East; building a cross-border supply chain management center; opportunities for Chinese-funded construction enterprises to take part in the development of the Northern Metropolis; and the development of virtual assets in Hong Kong.
